鄒族

舊稱「曹族」

居住於嘉義縣阿里山鄉、南投縣信義鄉等地區

鄒族人相信，哈默天神（hamo）創造了世界萬物

祂在玉山（patungkuonu）上面創造了人類（cou）

所以在遠古時代

人類與野獸萬物都共同居住於玉山

 

鄒族的宗教思想屬於泛靈的信仰崇拜

族人認為宇宙萬物皆有神靈

人們必須遵循自然的法則

否則會招來惡運

例如，他們相信雨神的存在，所以乾旱時，就必須拿著黃花龍芽草前往溪邊，掬水向外灑5次以進行呼喚雨神的儀式，請雨神下雨

關於靈界的傳說

鄒族人相信

人死的時候

居住於胸中的魂魄（hzoo）就會變成靈魂（hicu）

從頭頂上脫離，前往神聖的「塔山」。

 

自古以來的鄒族祖先們都會聚集在此處

而偉人的靈魂則會升天

居住在hamo天神的領域內

另外，鄒族人也相信，人死亡之後會顯現其形，或者發出聲音戲弄活人。
在阿里山的鄒族人，流傳一則非常奇異的傳說，講述獵人狩獵鹿王，反而被鹿王殺害的故事，顯現鄒族人對於大自然的敬畏之心。

The religious thought of the Tsou people belongs to animistic belief and worship.

The tribesmen believe that everything in the universe has gods.

People must follow the laws of nature

Otherwise it will bring bad luck

For example, they believe in the existence of the Rain God. Therefore, when there is a drought, they must go to the stream with agarwood, pour water out five times to perform a ritual of calling the Rain God, and ask the Rain God for rain.

In addition, the Tsou people also believe that after a person dies, his or her form will appear, or they will make sounds to tease the living.
There is a very strange legend circulated among the Tsou people in Alishan. It tells the story of a hunter hunting the deer king, but was killed by the deer king instead, which shows the Tsou people’s reverence for nature.
