臺灣原住民的傳統木製食具中
因製作技術的關係
淺闊的木盤較為常見
而需要刳刻的木碗則較為少見
此現象在善於製作陶器的族群中更為明顯
傳統上
鄒族人多以手指抓東西吃
因此食具的種類並不多
主要以竹、藤、木頭和陶等材質製成
如竹製湯匙 takieingi、藤編飯簍 ceu’fu、以及長方形木湯碗 teohku
日治時期
陶器隨著金屬器具的取得越來越容易
其製作技術逐漸失傳
而外來的硬陶碗、瓷盤與鉛製湯勺等食具的引進
也逐漸取代傳統的食具
